A day in the life of the NZ fur seal

Microsite targeted at primary school students (years 5–10).

The aim was to encourage interest in the New Zealand fur seal, while also introducing and educating children about fur seal captures via trawling vessels.

Employ.me

Employ.me is a concept for a web platform that helps connect youth with employers through social network data and social games.

The youth unemployment rate in New Zealand is at one of its highest points in history and one of the most critical elements in determining whether a young person enters the workforce is the school → workforce transition.

Skills and interests are analysed based on the user's social network and the performance of the user in a variety of games, which is then used to direct the user towards relevant job vacancies and future career opportunities.

Some games test and teach hard skills, for example basic carpentry, mechanic and barista skills. While other games test soft skills, such as memory, problem solving and time management.

Barnyard Battle

"There is an uprising at Hickory Road Farm. No longer tolerating the abuse and slavery at the hand of farmer Joe, the animals have rebelled. Catching farmer Joe off guard, they have managed to take control of the barn and are refusing to give it up. Fearing that the uprising will also spread to their farms, hoards of local farmers have arrived to help farmer Joe out. You must help the animals protect the barn at all costs."

Produced as part of a six week university project.

The Bermuda Triangle

Book investigating into the myths of the Bermuda Triangle.

The idea and exploration of miscommunication drove and inspired my design direction. Twisted facts, misreported stories and faint crackly radio messages are what makes the Bermuda Triangle the mystery that it is. The 'glitch' is symbolic of temporary malfunction or irregularity and mirrors the percieved random and unstable nature of the Bermuda Triangle.

Cover animates as the book is pulled from its plastic sleeve.
